According to Chinese Industry and Information Department, the number of Chinese net users reached 221 million by the end pf February, which helped China exceed America to be No. 1 in the world. At the end of 2007, the number was 210 million.

It's said that this year the government will constantly improve the internet developing environment as well as bring out fully function. The fundamental work of internet administration will be ensured, and the administrative mechanism which combines the internet development and security ensurance will be set up, to slove the problems concering the administration of internet main webs.

At this moment, new technologies such as VOIP, P2P, IPTV, Instant Message and search engine, brings forward great demands on the internet administration.

While according other statistics, although the popularity of internet is greatly increased by the number of Chinese net users, it still lower than the average of the world.
