Chinese game operator The9 (NASDAQ: NCTY) revealed to the press that the company was now planning on self-developed games, and massive recruitment of new research and development center will launch nationwide soon. This marks the9 is now trying to get out of the situation of 'operation without development'.

According to the information, the9 is now increasing investment to expand the size of its research and development center. Development teams will be set up in Beijing, Chengdu, Nanjing, etc., and recruitment will be carried out nationwide. For this moment, the research and development center has nearly 200 employees, with 5 departments developing mutiple products including Ming Jiang San Guo (Famous Generals of Three Kingdoms).

Just no long ago, the9 announced a USD 38 million cash investment into Korean game developer G10, which marks the9 start going for development. Zhu Jun, Chairman and CEO of the9 also expressed to gain more support from development team for Audition 2.

It's said that the9 started for self-developmemt since 2004. By far, the9 has invested millions in the game development.In April 2004, the9 invested in Object Software, becoming its strategic partner; In January 2005, it reached a strategic alliance with Winking Works to co-develop a mmo game. As to self-developed games, the9 is now in the process of developing Happy Westward Journey and Famous Generals of Three Kingdoms
