Chinese Online Game Industry Reached RMB 3.985 billion in Q1
With a market share of 18.7%, Shanda Kept its leadership in the market, followed by NetEase (13.3%), The9 (11.5%) and Giant Interactive(11.3%).

According to Chinese Online Game Market Survey Q1 2008, the report recently published by Analysys International, in the first quarter 2008, the total revenue of Chinese online game industry reached RMB 3.985 billion, a QoQ increase of 14%. As the market segment,, Shanda, NetEase, The9 and Giant Interactive took the lead.

With a market share of 18.7%, Shanda Kept its leadership in the market, followed by NetEase (13.3%), The9 (11.5%) and Giant Interactive(11.3%).

As pointed out by analysts, the net profit of Sohu in the first quarter surged 3.83 times, far exceeding the expectation of the market,  among which the revenue from online games increased 24 times, becoming the main driving force of fast development. This also clears the doubts from foreign investors to the fast developing pace of online game business.

Invest banks all expressed positive opinion on Sohu and its share, which also brought a new round growth in Chinese online game share, including Sohu, Shanda, Giant Interactive, NetDragon all shown a growth of over 40%.

It's said that in the first quarter,  The operation revenue of Shanda in the first quarter reached RMB 745 million, leading the whole industry. With the steady growth of old MMORPGs and the seasonal influenced online casual games, this quarter Shanda made fast growth. NetEase, with Fantasy Westward Journey performed well during the traditional Chinese New Year, kept growing in the fistr quarter. In the first quarter, its online game business reached 532 million RMB.
